The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Certified Best Place for Working Parents, is looking for an Administrative Assistant II to help our agency fulfill its important public service mission. This position is located at 101 E. 15th Street in Austin, Texas. Will work in the Agency’s Appeals Department, administering support for the Department across the state. The Appeals Department holds and hears first-level appeals from the original determination in disputed claims for unemployment insurance benefits under the Texas Unemployment Compensations Act (TUCA), and disputed claims for unemployment insurance under specific federal programs. Upon request, the Appeals Department may also be called upon to hold other special hearings. The hearings are mandated by state law and are to be held in a fair and impartial manner.iiBenefits to working for TWC include:- Competitive starting salary: $2194.33/month- Defined Retirement Benefit Plan- Optional 401(k) and 457 accounts- Medical Insurance – Currently, the state pays 100% of the health plan premium for eligible full-time employees and 50% of the premium for their eligible dependents. Employees pay the remainder of the premium by paycheck deduction before taxes are withheld.- Optional Benefits such as dental, vision, and life insurance- 8 hours sick leave per month- 8 hours vacation leave per month with potential to earn more with longevity- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services- Additional benefits for active employees: https://www.ers.texas.gov/Active-Employees/Health-Benefits.Performs routine (journey-level) administrative support or technical program assistance work.i Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support work.i May train others.i Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.GENERAL DUTIES:- Performs complex administrative work for the State Office Appeals Department of the Texas Workforce Commission.- Greets visitors, answers telephones, and provides quality and courteous customer service and assistance to internal and external customers.ii- Disseminates program and agency information, policies, and procedures, responding timely to routine and non-routine inquiries generally related to the UI Appeals programs but not limited to.- Prepares, proofs,

edits, and maintains the Appeals Department files and forms used to notify human resources of personnel activity. These forms and files included: P10s, SharePoint notifications, job postings, and departmental files.- Proofs and copies department performance reviews before sending them to HR.- Keys and maintains work orders of various types (HR, facility, IT and technical, telephone support).- Participates in cross-training activities with other staff to include areas such as supply ordering and accounts payable and receivable.- Prepares, generates and distributes reports and correspondence for the department in a timely manner. May include data entry into various databases.- Works both independently and with others to ensure objectives of the department are achieved.i Works under general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Strict confidentiality must be maintained.i- Performs other duties as assigned; which may include cross training to assist other units as need arises.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines.- Demonstrated, advanced computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).- Familiar with scanning devices.- Exceptional oral, written and telephone communication skills.- Experience in Accounts Payable/Receiving.- Experience in Human Resources.- Bilingual in English/Spanish.MINIM
