Job Description:

The Group ESG office is a key player within the organization forming the sustainability strategy and it provides strategic advisory to the Board, it runs research on business opportunities, public policy, environmental and social aspects of our societies. This senior function is in charge of activities relating to development sustainability strategy and business impact of Erste Group.

Job Responsibilities:

• Initiates, develops, and contributes to business activities with expertise and knowledge transfer of specific environmental or social topics
• Represents Erste Group and act as a contact person in external working groups (governmental, Federal Economic Chamber, NGOs, …), conferences, etc.
• Contribute to the preparation and communication of a group wide Sustainability strategy, group wide targets, key metrices, and situation analysis
• Keeping contact with CEE counterparts of Sustainability offices or business units.
• Actively drives the business attention toward opportunities in the field of sustainable finance, ESG risk management or operational impact
• Be part of internal and external communication activities of GSO toward employees, customers, and other stakeholders
• Runs analytics and ESG impact assessment of business initiatives, regularly reports on progress and contributes to internal and external disclosures
• Ensures a very good overview and regularly updates on legal, regulatory and public policy measures in the field of sustainability (including CEE countries)
• Leads formation of specific policy measures to ensure a clear and well readable impact of Erste Group
• Regularly monitors the sustainability policies of leading institutions and provides active feedback to the business units on appearing opportunities and threats

Job Requirements:

• Interest in sustainability issues and economic contexts
• Excellent English skills (oral and written)
• You are a strong team player, flexible, proactive, communicative and assertive
• High willingness to take responsibility and initiative

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience in dealing with authorities and public institutions
• CEE languages and German are an advantage
• Expertise in sustainability challenges and strategy projects in a corporate context / in the field of financial services is an advantage
• Completed studies in economics, political economics or sustainability
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in banking or ESG positions in companies, public institutions, consultancies or interest groups
