We are recruiting for a Collateral Risk Analyst, whose primary focus will be the risk management of residential mortgage portfolios and residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS), although there is scope to support on consumer and corporate assets too.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Designing the policy and methodology for valuing and assessing the financial risks of assets accepted as collateral, as well as assessing whether the Bank should accept new types of loans or securities;
  • Deciding the appropriate haircuts to be applied to those assets to protect the Bank against the risk of losses in the event that a counterparty defaults;

  • To contribute to the design of the collateral assessment framework and to ensure its effective implementation;
  • To help the team identify and monitor the emerging risk environment relevant to the Bank’s counterparties and their various assets, and to consider the impact on our collateral portfolio;
  • Assessing how the Bank can improve its preparedness to manage and dispose of collateral following the default of a counterparty;
  • To build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal parties within the Markets Directorate (e.g. Sterling Markets Division or Middle Office) and the wider Bank (e.g. the Prudential Regulatory Authority) and contribute to cross-Bank workstreams to ensure effective delivery of both FRMD’s and the Bank’s objectives;
  • Managing the market and liquidity risks across all operations undertaken by the Bank, including those related to the management of the UK’s foreign exchange reserves on behalf of the Government.
  • Assessing the risk management processes of the counterparties that deliver these assets;

  • Must be well-organised and proactive, with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
