Job Description:
The Role Holder will act as a business partner in the provision of professional and strategic advice to the Business and other stakeholders demonstrating a strong understanding of the macro regulatory factors impacting financial services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintenance, drafting and periodic updates of BOI suite of standard-form services and procurement contracts;
- Proactively building relationships with key business stakeholders;
- Effectively identify and report legal risks to the extent they may impact the Business;
- Support and proactively challenge Business and stakeholders to optimise the provision of legal service from an appropriate mix of in-house or external sources to ensure service is provided in the most effective and cost efficient manner, including proactive identification of improvements in knowhow, processes and procedures (which may also include the use of automation as appropriate).
- Working co-operatively on a cross-border basis and cross-departmental basis with other GLS colleagues, where applicable;
- Advising on a wide range of legislative and regulatory compliance matters with respect to new and existing commercial contracts, outsourcing, services and procurement agreements;
- Engaging with stakeholders across the Group to provide a “value add”, commercially astute advisory service, and constructively challenging the Business as necessary to enhance and protect the Group’s interests;
Job Requirements:
- Strong judgment, analytical, drafting and communication skills and ability to provide clear and robust legal advice while incorporating a pragmatic commercial viewpoint;
- Good understanding of the Group’s key businesses, priorities and challenges in addition to the legal and regulatory environment and management of legal risk;
- Very good analytical and listening skills with an ability to influence and critically assess / challenge stakeholders in an open and constructive manner, while maintaining effective relationships in a matrix environment;
- Ability to identify and take account of competing interests and viewpoints when dealing with challenge;
- Focus on continuous improvement;
- Strong inter-personal, decision making and relationship building skills, in particular the ability to exercise commercial judgment and constructively challenge business owners to ensure alignment between various stakeholders in a dynamic growth area;
- Resilience to deliver in a demanding environment;
