Job Description:
Data is at the heart of everything that we do in the Risk Division. Good data is easy to process, easy to report on and enables us to make the right decisions and deliver accurate information to the Board and Regulator. It is the foundation of our operation and is a vital component of building the Risk Function of the Future!
The Risk Divisional Data Office are looking for a data professional to influence and implement Risk data management, understand our key data, and provide analysis and information on it to business users.
Like many businesses, our entire team has embraced remote working and this is something we intend to carry into the future. The hub location of this role is Halifax, but we’d expect you to work in a hybrid way, flexing between working from home and the office hub. We recognise that in order to attract the best people we need to be flexible – we know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable! Whilst we can’t accommodate every flexible working request, we’re happy to be asked!
Job Responsibilities:
- Working with Risk right across the Group from Chief Data and Analytics Office to Group Transformation to determine and provide guidance on the data that is critical to Risk operations, as well as the standards it should meet.
- Leading the interrogation of data and systems to provide meaningful insights as to where our data comes from, what it represents, informing business usage.
- Developing sustainable data management and data quality frameworks, building technical solutions and content so users know they can rely on our data, e.g. profiling data, creating dashboards and driving better business rules and controls.
- Defining and enforcing metadata requirements and standards across change initiatives and business as usual, in a way that sustains compliance with BCBS 239 and other regulatory requirements.
- Promoting data excellence. Being the authoritative point of contact for colleagues and projects requiring data management and data quality framework guidance.
Job Requirements:
- Technical skills are a must, so you’ll be proficient in the use of SQL, VBA or other recognised software development toolsets.
- You’ll have experience of leading small teams to deliver successfully and develop individuals’ capabilities.
- You’ll be able to identify and document complex data structures, and present your analysis of root cause failure and business implications to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- You’ll be aware of good data management principles and associated regulatory requirements, such as BCBS239, and have practical experience of applying data management and data quality principles using business and technical data analysis.
