Job Description:

Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBAL LIAISON. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes proposed plans, projects, and policies affecting Native American interests.
  • Works with the Tribes to ensure that each Tribe’s position and concerns are effectively documented and communicated to the Department of the Interior and its Bureaus.
  • Collaborates with regional Department of the Interior personnel to ensure that the needs and expectations of the Tribes are understood and accommodated to the extent possible and keeps the Designated Federal Officer to the Adaptive Management Group informed about such discussions.
  • Ensures the availability of financial and technical assistance to the Tribes.
  • Develop and Maintain Partnerships between Tribes, Interior and Stakeholders
  • Evaluate, Analyze and Advise on Glen Canyon Adaptive Management Program Plans, Projects, and Policies
  • Financial and Technical Assistance

Job Requirements:

To qualify at the GS-13, you must possess one year of Specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-12 level in federal service having demonstrated specialized experience includes two out of the five listed below.
1. Experience serving in a liaison capacity with Tribal officials to articulate program policy and ensure appropriate consultation in resource management and other program activities;
2. Proficiency in interpreting laws, regulations, and agreements related to tribes and their involvement in federal programs or projects;
3. Proficiency in interpreting laws, regulations, and agreements associated with federal water management in the Colorado River Basin, including knowledge of water contracts, water rights, and planning activities;
4. Experience providing leadership and authoritative advice in multi-agency efforts involving Native American tribes, particularly those traditionally associated with the Colorado River; and
5. Experience presenting and communicating both orally and in writing to federal and non-federal stakeholders on federal water compliance activities.
