Job Description:

This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work associated with the inspection, cleaning general maintenance, and construction of the City’s storm water drainage system. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.

-Perform general maintenance to and cleaning of storm sewer drainage systems.
-Perform general construction within the storm water system.
-Enters confined spaces, when necessary, to inspect piping systems, retrieve camera equipment, remove large debris, perform general maintenance to storm sewer drainage system, etc.
-Complies with occupational safety rules and practices, and the application of standard work zone traffic control procedures.
-Operates equipment or trucks, including a truck-mounted snow plow, salt spreader, chemical de-icing spreader, etc., during winter emergencies.
-Performs manual labor when necessary to assist in the performance of various tasks or other duties as assigned.
-Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

-Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
-Ability to work in undesirable conditions and inclement weather.
-Ability to work in confined spaces using recovery equipment and following safety procedures.
-Ability to use and/or operate, and/or learn to use and operate storm sewer pipe cleaning/maintenance/repair methods and equipment, light and medium equipment and trucks, i.e., 12 yard dump truck, vactor/jetter truck, snow plow, salt spreader, etc.
-Ability to use hand tools, both power and manual.
-Working knowledge of traffic control devices and their applications. Ability to fill out daily paperwork to include job reports.

Job Requirements:

Any combination of experience and training equivalent to completion of the eighth grade. Valid Texas Driver’s License required. Must have the ability to obtain a Class “A” Commercial Drivers License, with “N” endorsement within 6 (six) months from date of hire.
