Job Description:

The Park Maintenance Division of the Community Services Department is looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates for the position of Park Maintenance Worker II. Under immediate supervision, the Park Maintenance Worker II will perform routine park maintenance and repair work in the care of parks, recreation areas and equipment

Job Responsibilities:

Maintain parks, pedways and other city owned sites.
• Plant, cultivate, water, and fertilize trees, shrubs and flowers.
• Water, mow, weed, trim, aerate and fertilize lawns.
• Spray or apply fungicides, insecticides and herbicides.
• Pick up trash and litter.
• Repair and install irrigation systems.
• Plan and schedule routine daily work activities.
• Ensure that assigned tasks are accomplished in areas for which
responsible.
• Report delays and reasons for delays; record on a daily work sheet,
time and work performed and materials used.
• May provide input regarding estimating supply and equipment
needs.
• Perform heavy physical labor including lifting and carrying heavy
objects.
• Perform minor mechanical maintenance and repairs on equipment.
• Clean equipment, change tires, grease, lubricate and fuel vehicles.
• Operate grounds maintenance equipment including a backhoe and
tractor attachments, as well as a variety of hand and power tools

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge and skills necessary to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of the job. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be

Graduation from high school or equivalent

Three years of experience in parks, grounds, and landscape maintenance, including the repair and maintenance of tools and equipment used in the performance of assignments and, preferably, some experience leading a crew worksite
