The Management Analyst is a flexibly staffed position and may be filled at either the Analyst I or Analyst II level at the discretion of the department, based upon the expertise of the candidate.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of the new budgeting system.
- Interpret and apply policies and procedures, laws, regulations, and City ordinances.
- Analyze and evaluate budget-related fiscal data to identify trends and/or changes.
- Collect and analyze a variety of data; interpret accounting and budget records, reports, and a chart of accounts.
- Represent the department at community, inter-departmental, and other professional meetings.
- Apply generally-accepted accounting and budgeting principles and theory in performing work assignments.
- Prepare complex financial reports, correspondence, and contracts relating to various fiscal projects for staff, City Council, and commissions.
- Analyze program and accounting/budgeting details to identify and apply data in preparing budget projections, estimates, and reports.
- Research and respond to inquiries and complaints.
- Find additional information in the Management Analyst I or Management Analyst II job descriptions.
- May supervise, train, and direct the work of staff.
- Perform complex budget planning and analysis.
Job Requirements:
- One-three years of municipal management experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or related field. Master’s degree in Public Administration, desired.
- Experience performing a wide variety of professional-level analytical support duties.
- Collaborative team player with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Possess a high attention to detail in conjunction with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to attend evening Commission or Council Meetings approximately two times a month.
- At least three years of increasingly responsible municipal budget and analytical experience is ideal.
