Job Description: The Regional Valuation Unit Head is a key leadership role, with responsibility for leading a team of around 150 to 200 people undertaking property valuations. The post holder’s responsibility will cover the South of England region, combining operational delivery with a statutory officer role for Non Domestic Rating and Council Tax. The post holder will work closely with the Director of Regional Valuation and Property Data Units to drive forward transformational change, seek out operational efficiencies and engage our people to support the business to deliver of excellent customer service. Providing strong, effective leadership and direction, to enable to the delivery of business objectives and support improvements in staff engagement across the Unit; Be the Valuation and Listing Officer Statutory appointment for the South Region, providing technical oversight and apply high levels of analytical skills to resolve the most complex or sensitive issues that may arise. Working collaboratively with the Regional Valuation Unit Heads and the Property Data Unit Head to align Operational objectives, ensuring close working, mutual support and collaboration across directorates. Using these relationships to manage demand and determine priorities in a robust and considered way; Be a visible and active member of the Operations Senior Management Team, and wider Leadership Community. To manage the Regional Valuation Unit to adapt to changing requirements in an operational context that will be continually changing, delivering at pace. To be accountable for the Unit budget and to ensure that activities are undertaken within budgetary forecast and constraints. Identifying reputational, performance and customer risks and issues for the Unit. Taking ownership and mitigating those that can be managed and escalating those that need others to contribute to or lead to successfully mitigate. To provide regular coaching and development discussions with direct reports, ensuring that development plans are in place and actively managed. Professional surveying qualification - MRICS/FRICS or IRRV (hons). Experience of operating credibly at senior level. Extensive knowledge and understanding of the work area to make sound and balanced judgements, proactively keeping knowledge up-to-date and use it to provide advice and guidance to their teams.
