Job Description:
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ), Clinical Standards Group (CSG) .
As a Economist, GS-0110-13, you will perform economic analysis of healthcare financing issues and assesses their impact upon the CMS programs, the health care sector, small businesses, and the national, state, and local economies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze and raise economic issues inherent in the development of proposed and final regulatory policies.
- Perform economic analysis of healthcare financing issues and assesses their impact upon the CMS programs, the health care sector, small businesses, and the national, state, and local economies.
- Independently draft information collection section of regulations and associated information.
- Effectively present issues, verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise factual manner to gain acceptance of concepts and recommendations.
Job Requirements:
- Individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation;
- Supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information; OR
- Teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following (1) personal research that produced evidence of results, (2) direction of graduate theses in economics, or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems.
- Optional Form 306, Declaration of Federal Employment and the Background/Suitability Investigation – A background and suitability investigation will be required for all selectees. Appointment will be subject to the successful completion of the investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements may be grounds for appropriate personnel action. In addition, if hired, a reinvestigation or supplemental investigation may be required at a later time. If selected, the Optional Form 306 will be required prior to final job offer.
- Form I-9, Employment Verification and the Electronic Eligibility Verification Program – CMS participates in the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify). E-Verify helps employers determine employment eligibility of new hires and the validity of their Social Security numbers. If selected, the Form I-9 will be required at the time of in-processing.
- Standard Form 61, Appointment Affidavits – If selected, the Standard Form 61 will be required at the time of in-processing.
