Job Responsibilities:

  • Interview taxpayers or their representatives to respond to taxpayer enquiries, obtain and verify personal and financial information, establish ability to pay, negotiate payment of outstanding amounts, and obtain outstanding returns and remittances.
  • Initiate legal actions (i.e. garnishees) on outstanding accounts within predetermined criteria, and make recommendations for prosecution.
  • Identify and refer accounts that require extensive time involvement, research or investigation, and/or legal action to the Team Leader.
  • Examine, verify, and amend taxpayer accounts, reconcile account discrepancies, enforce reporting or filing requirements, and initiate assessments.
  • Identify accounts that meet Fairness Legislation criteria and prepare documentation for review by the fairness committee.
  • Plan and coordinate the collection of outstanding amounts for all revenue types from individuals and businesses, and the enforcement of Trust Accounts compliance.
  • Analyse information available to establish the degree of non-compliance and locate taxpayers or their assets.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a collections environment, collecting debts owing from individuals or businesses such as accounts receivables, credit card debts, loans, and mortgages; taking legal action on outstanding debts, dealing with difficult customers and tactfully resolving complaints or problems.
  • Successful completion of a secondary school diploma
  • Unsupervised Internet Test (UIT): Korn Ferry cognitive abilities and behavioural competencies (60% Pass Mark on the Global Assessment score)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing in English (70% Pass Mark)
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills (70% Pass Mark)
