Job Description:
This position provides leadership and direction for the engineering design and implementation of all system Distribution Construction and Maintenance projects within the assigned zone(s). Focus will be on completing the design execution of all work management projects within the identified and agreed upon time frame. These projects include New Revenue; Joint Use; Lighting; DOT; Capacity Planning; Power Quality, Reliability, and Component Integrity programs. This position will lead, organize and develop the assigned zone(s) engineering workforce to provide reliable service to all distribution customers and internal departments. Additionally, this position will lead the jurisdictional design functions (routine and major projects) in compliance with all applicable state, federal and corporate requirements, including standards, work methods, procedures, and safe work practices. This position requires intensive interaction and networking skills with peers and stakeholders. The Design Engineering leader will also provide direct support and coaching to individual performers and peers as needed.
Job Responsibilities:

- Manage the engineering staff providing distribution engineering design and technical support. This is including determination of contingency staffing needs. This would entail the scope of quantity, timetable, nature of the delivered engineering product and ultimate quality and contract adherence. Allocate resources within zone(s) to address emergent issues and maximize staff utilization and efficiency
- Oversees standard work processes are followed by team.
- Lead, monitor, and review quality and performance results.
- Actively shares information with management and employees.
- Develop a culture of two-way communication, encouraging employee feedback and providing communications to other Leaders
- Ensures that customer incidents are thoroughly investigated and reviewed with responsible employees and supervisors.
- Ensure timely response to customer concerns
- Ensure satisfactory resolution of customer concerns.
- Champions and leads opportunities for improvement.
- Initiates the development of plans to ensure objectives are achieved and improved opportunities are addressed.
- Enable employees to make decisions within boundaries.
- Develop the employee’s capability and confidence in dealing with all levels of the Distribution customer base, internal departments, governmental and regulatory officials and all levels of supervision and management.
- Manage the engineering design and implementation of residential development projects.
- Leads and assures that assigned work within the assigned zone(s) is completed according to schedule and in compliance with design and construction standards.
- Establishes and communicates expectations to management and supervisory teams.
- Improve consistency across residential developments across the Carolinas Region.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a graduation date within the next 12 months
- Knowledge of current human resources practices
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Human Resource Management, Industrial/ Organizational Psychology or Organization Development (or closely related field)
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to plan, organize and execute deliverables within the agreed upon timeframe and budget
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to integrate and summarize information into an easy to understand format
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills through on-campus, extracurricular/volunteer activities, previous work experiences, etc.
- Attention to detail
- High level of proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
