We are looking for a Personnel Security Specialist to develop and carry out leadership of a Security Pilot Program! The ideal candidate will have a combined background in personnel and information security and program development and will provide direction in this niche area to leadership across the company to appropriately and effectively detect and report insider threat incidents!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Research, analyze risk-benefit and provide recommendations to build a brand new personnel security pilot program in collaboration with key stakeholders including cybersecurity and human resources
  • Develop and implement applicable policy, standards, guidelines, and procedures to formally address the purpose, scope, roles, and responsibilities for the personnel security program. This will also include outlining expectations for management commitment, coordination among organizational business units and departments, and compliance requirements
  • Establish risk-based controls on the hiring, training, and termination of all personnel to protect our information systems and confidential, proprietary, and non-public information
  • Advise on selection of AI technology to support the program’s goals and ensure sustainability
  • Make recommendations concerning the issuance of security clearance eligibility based on disclosed information from referrals and background investigations.
  • Determine objective criteria for escalating anomalies for investigation considerations, conduct investigations, assuring that investigative suspense dates are met, and reviewing completed reports for compliance with policy
  • Evaluate the results of background investigations for compliance with prescribed standards and criteria while ensuring sufficiency of coverage
  • Prepare evaluations of investigations against national level criteria for investigative sufficiency and for suitability/security adjudication

Job Requirements:

  • An excellent written communicator with proven ability in writing unique program requirements to effectively advise and guide audiences of all levels
  • Resourceful, with a curiosity about researching, developing, and implementing new and improved security methods, policies and procedures to meet program objectives
  • Experience in analysis and supporting insider risk management for preventing, detecting, and deterring inside threats
  • 7-10 years combined experience and education (post-secondary considerations include undergraduate degree, diploma, security-related designation or trade)
  • Experience conducting background investigations for the purpose of determining suitability and security clearance eligibility
  • Experience in cybersecurity and leading all aspects of various enhanced and collateral security programs
  • A technical expert in analyzing and resolving complex security problems requiring innovative solutions, including cybersecurity
  • Knowledge of user activity monitoring tools, data loss prevention tools, case management systems, or platforms that search, analyze, and visualize data
