Job Description:

The Software and Applications Engineering (SAE) Division supports Los Alamos National Laboratory’s (LANL) enterprise applications and performs software application development support, database development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting. The Enterprise Business Software Group (SAE-2) provides custom application development, commercial off-the-shelf application implementation, database administration, and adoption/integration with Software as a Service solutions. SAE-2 supports business processes for financial, personnel, procurement, and human resources IT systems.

Job Responsibilities:

Working alongside some the brightest minds, you will work with a team using agile development methodologies to support existing custom and COST applications. You will also design, develop, test and deploy new functionality to any new or existing applications the team is working on. This role is a technical role that also requires direct communication with various functional customers and technical peers. The successful candidate should also have a strong desire to learn technologies, business processes, to become an expert in their field, and the willingness and confidence to develop safety-class, mission-critical software.

Job Requirements:

Software Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), specifically Java, .NET, Python, JavaScript, and with one or more server-side languages such as bash. Demonstrate experience reading and writing SQL and/or PLSQL queries. Experience with distributed version control systems like Git and/or TFS. Experience using 3rd party JavaScript packages such as React, Angular, JQuery, etc. Experience using markup languages such as HTML5, XML, etc. Familiarity with databases such as SQL Server or Oracle. Experience consuming RESTfull services with the use of JSON. Experience using agile practices and principles and experience utilizing Scrum or Kanban framework.

Education/Experience at Higher level: Position typically requires a relevant bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
