Job Description:
The employee will serve as the social media lead in the NIH Office of Communications and Public Liaison, News Media Branch. They will manage the strategy and content for the main NIH social media channels, the NIH Director’s social media presence, and serve as a point of contact on social media for the NIH Institutes, Centers or Offices (NIH ICOs). The employee will handle matters of extreme sensitivity and high visibility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manages the overall strategy for NIH social media accounts to build awareness of and support for the NIH mission among diverse audiences.
- Serves as the liaison between engagement teams at HHS and NIH and will encourage collaboration and amplification of pertinent messages coming from the Department across Agency.
- Manages day-to-day social media activities for NIH channels, and particularly in support of the social media activities of the NIH Director.
- Evaluates effectiveness of social media programs, the employee will establish standard benchmarks for measuring the impact of these programs, and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results.
- Collects relevant information to support drafting content, circulate draft content for input and approval, and manage posting content on the main NIH channels
- For NIH special events, proactively determines and propose strategies to amplify and promote the event on NIH digital channels including live streaming the event on NIH social media accounts.
- Works closely with relevant NIH offices across the Agency to produce content for broadcasting on NIH channels.

- You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Developing strategic plans, messaging goals, and objectives for short and long term implementation; Identifying communication needs, developing informational materials and delivering key organizational messages that inform appropriate external audiences of the agency’s policies, programs, services and activities; Working on team projects related to web publishing and strategic content development; Collaborating with external stakeholders to identify successful strategies to develop written content such as fact sheets, reports and documents for public dissemination; Reviewing and creating websites content in compliance with web standards and best practices.
