Royal Mail has an exciting opportunity to join the company as an Engineering Teach Coach based in the Bristol Mail Centre.You will assist in ensuring that all relevant Health & Safety Policy and Guidelines are adhered to by Maintenance Teams whilst under their leadership.On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for providing proactive technical leadership,guidance and support for all engineering automation issues within the Mail Centre.This is a permanent night shift position; hours will be Mon – Fri 10:30pm – 06:10am (some flexibility around start/finish times)

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will ensure engineering maintenance is completed to defined standards and is delivered by a competent engineering workforce in a cost-effective manner.
  • Lead and co-ordinate the implementation of maintenance techniques to ensure that the asset performance and availability design criteria is always achieved.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance including Maintenance Health & Safety to the Shift Manager and deliver technical training, coaching and development to the engineering maintenance team.
  • You will assist in the risk assessment process relating to automation equipment and Engineering Safe Systems of Work are accurate and available for all assets and that maintenance team’s work to Health & Safety Policy and guidelines within the workplace.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the operational shift manager by leading the day-to-day delivery of maintenance services, specifically preventative/predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance and performance improvement for automation assets observing work plan compliance to achieve equipment optimisation.
  • You will lead the timely implementation of approved modifications and ensure that the configuration status of hardware/software and mechanical set up is up to date and technically managed.
  • Develop the engineering team on a day-to-day basis, proving support, and advice, conducting annual Individual Performance Reviews and regular development meetings to ensure the highest technical standards are met.
  • Provide, plan and deliver technical coaching and automation training within the workplace to maintenance engineers. Arranging via the Maintenance Team Leader any training requirements that cannot be delivered locally.
  • Always provide technical direction in-keeping with Business Values and standards, explaining as necessary. Challenge unacceptable behaviour, bullying and harassment, within the mail centre engineering community.
  • Provide effective and efficient support to the Maintenance Team Leader and Regional Maintenance Team, data gathering for end of shift reports, fault logging using the maintenance management system, root cause analysis, and input to the Mail Centre Shift Report.
  • You will have pro-active involvement and attendance of Automation Forums, Performance and Shift Meetings and making continuous use of automation management information systems, briefing and encouraging engineers to driving positive outputs.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to stimulate and channel the energy, commitment and potential of highly skilled team members ensuring everyone contributes to enhancing team performance thus resulting in increased employee motivation/job satisfaction toward Great Place to Work.
  • Minimum of HNC in an engineering related subject
  • Experience of Leadership in an Engineering environment
  • Complex understanding of engineering systems
