Job Description:
The County of San Bernardino is recruiting for Accountants II who perform a variety of professional-level accounting duties including independently preparing and analyzing accounting and financial statements; making adjusting entries in several subsystems of a departmental accounting system; and performing specialized accounting functions such as tax or cost accounting.

The eligible list established by this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies throughout the County as well as in the County Fire Department and Special Districts Department. Applicants will be asked to indicate their availability and preference for referral to the different agencies in the Supplemental Questionnaire.
The County Fire Department and Special Districts Department are separate entities from the County of San Bernardino, and as such, compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan. The salary for County Fire and Special Districts Accountant II is $51,334 – $70,761 annually (range 32); for additional details, refer to the Fire Auxiliary Services Unit MOU and Benefits Summary.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Stipend:Accountants II who possess and maintain a valid CPA license are eligible for an annual stipend of $750.
Job Requirements:
Experience: One (1)year of professional-level accounting experience.
Education: Must meet one of the following options:
Option 1:Bachelor’s degree in accounting OR Bachelor’s degree in another field which includes 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting or related field, half of which MUSTbe upper division. A list of completed college coursework or legible transcripts MUST be submitted with the application if the applicant does not possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Applications will also be accepted from candidates currently enrolled in or having completed the last semester/quarter prior to graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. A letter from the school indicating graduation date must be submitted with the application. Proof of degree conferred must be provided at time of hire.
Option 2:An active California Certified Public Accountant (CPA)license may substitute for the education requirements. List your license number under the license/certification section of theapplication.
Note: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education
