Job Description:
This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of International Trade in locations listed above. As a USEAC Network Director, represent the SBA to the U.S. Commercial Service (Dept. of Commerce) and other export related agencies. Provides guidance to U.S. small businesses on entering international markets through trade development and export finance programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manages the full range of the SBA’s export assistance programs, including loan guarantee programs, for lenders and small businesses. Actively markets SBA’s export finance programs to lenders and small businesses, and proactively solicits export loan applications from participating lenders; provides training and other expert technical assistance in the use of these programs to both the lending and business communities; underwrites and services SBA’s export working capital loan guarantees; and assists with loan liquidations.
- Represents OIT and SBA at meetings with state, national, and international representatives, and provides input for communication with Congress and the media on international trade and international trade finance issues; also represents SBA and explains SBA programs in a wide range of venues, including trade shows, seminars, and export-related speaking engagements, as well as to the media. Communicates the needs of exporters to other SBA divisions and ensures that inquiries are directed to the appropriate SBA staff.
- As a subject matter expert, the incumbent will work with the U.S. Commercial Service management team to ensure SBA staff assigned to USEACs participate actively in the local business community, bringing SBA’s export promotion and export finance resources and expertise to small businesses.
- Monitors current and emerging needs of small business exporters making recommendations to management and OIT for program and policy modifications that could enhance the international competitiveness of small exporters.
- As one of three Regional Trade Finance Directors, the incumbent will direct the day to day management of a staff of International Trade Finance Specialists assigned to U.S. Export Assistance Centers or USEACs across the country. S/he serves as a key advisor on issues related to SBA’s Office of International Trade’s (OIT’s) trade finance programs throughout a multi-state area; analyzes, develops, and implements agency-wide policies, standards and procedures to effectively strengthen OIT’s finance programs throughout his/her network of USEAC International Trade Finance Specialists.
- Provides trade and export finance expertise to business and lending communities; provides strategic planning for the marketing and delivery of SBA technical assistance and export finance programs; provides expert guidance and direction to accomplish the goals and objectives of U.S. Export Assistance Centers (USEAC).
