Job Description:
The Accountant II role will primarily be responsible for general accounting and account reconciliations related to fuel sales. This role will also have responsibility for inventory accounting, month-end close and other financial reporting deliverables.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accounting and operational procedures relating to revenue recognition, inventory control, purchasing & operations
- Assisting with the monthly close process, ensuring that all necessary journal entries are recorded in the appropriate period and financial statements are prepared and issued timely and accurately
- Monitor and complete assigned month end closing tasks
- Reconcile gross profit of Fuel Dashboard vs. Great Plains
- Analyze railcar expenses and recommend and/or adjust as needed
- Perform Lower of Cost or Market Analysis to determine if an adjustment is necessary
- Prepares and performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
- Create daily and monthly financial reports requested from management by using Access and Excel to query Fuel Smart and Great Plains
- Preparing complex journal entries and monthly GL account reconciliations
- Assist with the reconciling of inventories
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of automated journal entries
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
- Participate in the preparation data for internal and external audit
- Monitor Fuel Smart integrations into Great Plains and trouble shoot issues
