Job Description:

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is recruiting a dedicated Business Marketing Specialist to focus on growing Registered Apprenticeship (RA) in Iowa. This position will be located at any Iowa Works location based on applicants domicile. Your skills and expertise in building business relationships and taking the lead with RA program development will assist IWD in serving Iowa employers and jobseekers with meaningful workforce solutions.

As IWD’s RA Business Marketing Specialist, this position serves as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert to employers on RA, focusing on healthcare and agricultural industry sectors. This individual will partner with Iowa community organizations such as chambers, regional economic development groups, workforce committees, business & industry, training institutions, WIOA core and required partners, and community service agencies to represent and market RA and workforce system services. Under the encouragement of Leadership and program staff, create strategy mapping based on industry to align efforts using Labor Market Information, job orders, and other employment data. This person will assist employers with identification of apprenticeable occupations within an organization, identify and connect to applicable related training instruction, develop of on-the-job learning that meets Department of Labor requirements, and complete the referral process for program registration.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build a sustainable and effective business relationships to enhance IWD’s effort with RA
  • Take the lead on RA program development by serving as the subject matter expert
  • Prepare, maintain and organize materials related to RA outreach/education
  • Maintain a clear understanding of IWD programs in order to appropriately represent IWD with current statistics and information to support businesses
  • Conduct presentations to applicable stakeholders on the benefits of RA as a workforce solution Experience working with businesses, community organization such as chambers, regional economic development groups, workforce committees, business & industry, training institutions, WIOA core and required partners, and community service agencies
    Providing technical assistance to businesses
    Exceptional written and oral communication skills

Job Requirements:

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or counseling.
  2. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or counseling, and experience equal to two years of full-time clinical work in the provision of counseling and therapy in an institutional or community mental health, intellectual disability, long-term care, or correctional program.
  3. Possession of a license to practice psychology from the Iowa Board of Psychology.
  4. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time work as a Psychologist 1.
