Commerce is comprised of seven operating divisions and two standalone programs that span a variety of industries including real estate, liquor, banking, securities, firefighting, construction and skilled trades, and medical marijuana. Through exceptional compliance practices and oversight, Commerce has a direct role in protecting Ohioans.

Job Responsibilities:

e / she is responsible for the life cycle planning of business applications: architect, select, deploy, operate, evolve, and retire. This role has 4 direct reports and is responsible for Application Development, Architecture, Project Management, and Business Analysis for the Department of Commerce.

• Fosters strategic partnerships within IT and across the business units.
• Provides leadership, vision and direction to the delivery organization ensuring it will contribute to the agency achieving its goals.
• Provides leadership for planning, developing, and implementing information technology initiatives.
• Works with CIO and other IT leaders to develop and lead the overall IT strategy in the context of the business strategy and initiatives of IT, Commerce, and the State.
• Leads the development and implementation of best practices and standards in process, design, architecture and operations of all aspects of service-oriented information technology delivery.
• Responsible for the day-to-day management of the delivery organization — including staffing, budgeting and other relevant management functions — and holds all delivery teams accountable for optimizing the cost, risk, and value of applications and products throughout their life cycle
• Lead the Delivery Organization, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skill gaps.

Job Requirements:

Completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science, or completion of undergraduate core coursework in any academic major which included at least one course in each of the following: advanced-level computer programming language (for example, .NET, .NET core, Visual Studio, C++, DevOps), logic-based mathematics, data base concepts (for example, Oracle or sql), computer systems analysis & design, & basic data processing concepts AND additional 7 1/2 years (90 mos.) exp. commensurate with job duties to be performed & knowledges & skills required.
