Job Responsibilities:
Unless required by legislation or union contract, candidates will start at the lowest rate of the salary range associated with this position.
This position is in support of OOD’s COVID relief effort through activities such as assisting with virtual/remote access to services as well as directly providing information about COVID-19 to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Job Requirements:
Adheres to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)/National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Code of Professional Conduct.
Provides interpreting services one-on-one & for OOD staff at professional meetings, trainings, professional development, disciplinary actions, workforce planning etc.; identifies resources needed & previews information as applicable to confirm understanding of material to be interpreted; prepares for interpreting assignment.
Formulates & implements program policy related to facilitation of effective communication for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Provides American Sign Language (ASL) &/or other forms of English signing interpreting services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing translating between spoken and a signed language.
Provides mentoring services & assists with special assignments & projects.
