To support our mission, we are seeking to fill Administrative Assistant I positions in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Appeals Department which is located in downtown Austin, Texas at 101 E. 15th Street.Benefits to working for TWC include:- Competitive starting salary: $2080.84/month- Defined Retirement Benefit Plan- Optional 401(k) and 457 accounts- Medical Insurance – Currently, the state pays 100% of the health plan premium for eligible full-time employees and 50% of the premium for their eligible dependents. Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support work. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.GENERAL DUTIES:- Enters necessary data on UI Claims Function as instructed and performs other special processing procedures.- May forward correspondence to appropriate personnel or department for processing or correction.- Processes and distributes incoming and outgoing mail and faxed documents within established time frame.- Uses personal computer and benefits mainframe database to analyze appeals to determine appropriate issues, parties, and scheduling considerations for administrative hearings. Expedites cases for scheduling.- Communicates effectively, courteously, and in a professional manner with the public, staff, and all internal customers.- Posts information to agency records.- Must be able to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, Monday to Friday..- Performs other duties as assigned.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Due to high-volume contact with the public,i need professional manner and communication skills.- Attention to detail, to accurately enter information.- Good interpersonal skills to
communicate with internal and external customers.- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy.- Knowledge of PC/Software, especially Outlook and PeopleSoft.- Familiar with unemployment insurance programs.- Proficient with numeric ten-key entry and PC.- Bilingual (Spanish/English)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification, plus one year of full-time experience in a responsible position that provided thorough knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices and procedures, or clerical administration and business management practices, such as preparation, maintenance, and control of forms, records, and reports.Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.Duty involves no travel and the ability to lift 5 pounds.VETERANS:Use your military skills to qualify for this position or other jobs!
