This position assists in planning and managing the development and implementation of Academic Integrity programming and supports the broader range of programs being developed by the Student Learning Hub. Additionally, this position collaborates on the development and implementation of campus initiatives that focus on creating a culture of integrity and restorative justice approaches. This position provides one-on-one consultations, group facilitation, and workshops regarding Academic Integrity and academic communication for students from diverse cultural, racial, and disciplinary backgrounds. This position’s work will be guided by the learning needs of the current student population with consideration of current learning modalities, but will be responsive to developing needs. This position offers direction for Student Learning Hub marketing and communication initiatives focused on Academic Integrity and academic communication. This position also manages student staff and oversees scheduling

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and provides initial and ongoing training for student employees from diverse cultural, racial, and disciplinary backgrounds in order to meet Student Learning Hub and College Reading and Learning Association standards, implement effective practices, and contribute to undergraduate student success.
  • Facilitates both in and out of class group activities for undergraduate students in all disciplines that attend to restorative justice practices, effective instruction practices (e.g. teaching for transfer of knowledge between disciplines and courses), and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Creates programs and initiatives that enhance the development of pedagogical tools and delivery of undergraduate education programs, with an emphasis on academic integrity and academic communication.
  • Participates on teams that develop and deliver orientation and Academic Integrity Week programming.
  • Collaborates with campus partners (Library, Centre for Teaching and Learning, Student Services) to facilitate service excellence and meet the needs of all faculties.
  • Develops and provides instructional workshops and in-class training, including a wide range of modalities like computer-based modules and seminar style workshops, for undergraduate and graduate students on topics related to academic communication and Academic Integrity, including but not limited to: creating a culture of academic integrity, strategies to avoid cheating, integrating sources, planning, drafting, writing, revising, and editing papers, or presentations.
  • Advises students on the development of Academic Integrity practices and promotes a culture of integrity through a restorative justice lens.
  • Collaborates with librarians and campus partners to develop innovative ways of promoting programming.
  • Communicates with Associate Deans regarding Academic Integrity initiatives and supports for students.
  • Responsible for management of student staff in the Student Learning Hub.
  • Assists in developing inclusive processes and practices to enrich the student experience and support student success.
  • Provides one-on-one consultations to undergraduate students from diverse cultural, racial, and disciplinary backgrounds regarding Academic Integrity and academic communication.
  • Manages marketing initiatives including web- and print-based promotional materials.
  • Provides leadership and support for the hiring of Student Learning Hub’s Writing and Language Learning employees.
  • Develops and maintain content for the Student Learning Hub’s websites.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of current theories in instructional design, and instructional techniques in education, particularly with respect to post-secondary teaching and learning and academic development, including anti-racist approaches to instruction and universal design.
  • Demonstrated experience with effective presentation of assessment data for reports.
  • University degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ablity to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Master’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, Composition, Literature, or a related field is preferred.
  • Written and oral communication skills that support the understanding of the intended audience.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of workshop design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply policies and procedures.
  • Ability to create, provide, and promote programming (informal and formal stand-alone or embedded activities) for Academic Integrity and writing development.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate on cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams, as well as multitask, establish priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and professionalism in consulting with clients, identifying needs, maintaining confidentiality, and facilitating solutions.
