Job Description:
The School of Social Work at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Master of Social Work (MSW)program – specialising in clinical practice. This full-time Lecturer, non-tenure-stream, position will commence on July 1st 2025.
This position assumes the role of Graduate Education Coordinator for the School of Social Work (SSW) . The work performed includes both administrative leadership and teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include course delivery and might include supervision of students as a faculty liaison to external agencies. The administrative leadership work is laid out in more detail below.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and ability to participate comfortably in discussions on equity, diversity, inclusion using current discourse. As faculty members in the educational leadership stream, the successful candidates will be expected to maintain a record of excellence in teaching, service, and educational leadership.
Job Responsibilities:
- Chairs and coordinates the Admissions Committee.
- Works with Graduate Programs Assistant and Academic Advising to appropriately manage programs and acts as first point of contact for issues relating to students within the program.
- Supports the Director of the School and liaises with Academic Scheduling to coordinate teaching schedules and courses.
- Liaises with the College of Graduate Studies (COGS) for all MSW course-based and thesis-based degree routes.
- Manages curricular updates and revisions via Senate proposals.
- Other duties as required.
- Leads the process of student recruitment and actively advises students with regard to course selection and admissions requirements and processes.
- Develops and manages policies, School procedures, Senate proposals and other School policy manuals.
- Placeholder for Director when needed.
Job Requirements:
- A strong record of social work practice combined with teaching/supervising experience, ideally in clinical social work practice;
- A strong knowledge of social work theory and practice at the clinical levels;
- A strong knowledge of mental health and mental disorders;
- a strong knowledge in evidence-based practice;
- evidence of excellence in graduate teaching and/or supervision preferred;
- exceptional organization skills, be a critical thinker and possess fine attention to detail.
