Job Description:

The Design Thinking Specialist will be one of the founding team members of Walmart Canada’s brand-new innovation team. As a founding member of our dynamic Innovation team, the Design Thinking Specialist provides design-based innovation expertise and creativity to the team’s work, with a specific focus on co-creation, research, data synthesis, idea generation, and prototyping. A Design Thinking Specialist acts as a facilitator for design workshops, design sprints and brainstorming sessions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Test and prototype ideas with stakeholders and end-users
• Employ design thinking-based approaches to identify the business use cases and explore the perspectives of customers, employees, and other stakeholders
• Skillfully move people outside their comfort zones to embrace new approaches, mindsets, and solutions
• Lead structured design-based sessions for the team as well as their stakeholders
• Share and teach design methodologies to fellow team members, business units and other stakeholders
• Conceptualize new solutions to address complex innovation challenges
• Provide support on the delivery of functional prototypes

Job Requirements:

• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple business partners and stakeholders
• Bachelors’ degree in Anthropology, Human Factors, Psychology or a related field preferred
• 2+ years’ experience workshop facilitation required
• Proficiency in Adobe XB and Photoshop an asset
• Demonstrated capabilities in design thinking practice
