The Statewide Customer Service Contact Center (CSCC) within the Economic Services Administration, Community Services Division has opportunities for one permanent and one non-permanent Public Benefits Specialist 4 (Leads) within our Southeast Team in Yakima, WA. In this role, you’ll serve as lead to a unit of PBS 1-2-3 staff. You will assist the supervisor of the PBS staff by coaching, providing assistance for determining financial eligibility, and providing focus training. You’ll also regularly conduct financial eligibility audits and ensure that current eligibility information and training are communicated with staff.

Job Responsibilities:

Must have exceptional understanding of eligibility, Community Services Division processes and appropriate computer programs (ACES, ACES Online, Barcode, e-Jas, ICMS, Washington Connections)
Duties require extensive and specialized financial knowledge as well as ability to interpret public laws and policies and the ability to make independent decisions.
Must possess extensive knowledge of Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and procedural manuals needed to determine eligibility for all programs administered by CSD.
Must possess excellent communication skills both oral and written and provide outstanding customer service by phone.
Ability to assist others in interpretation and analysis of data; make independent decisions; supervise and train staff.
Proficiently utilize all computer programs in use by Community Service Division. Frequently review data found in the State’s computer systems to make accurate decisions.
Communicate effectively with people in difficult situations, including calming people, working with people who have communication challenges, assisting hard-to-serve populations, and discussing confidential and unpleasant options, in person and over the phone
Ability to be flexible to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a busy office with numerous interruptions
Experience working within time frames and deadlines
Ability to work cohesively within an established team

Job Requirements:

Equivalent education/experience: Experience examining/processing loan applications, medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment insurance claims, or a job providing staff support in financial eligibility determination, or in a job analyzing, verifying, and evaluating financial data and information, will substitute year for year, for education and experience;
