Job Description:

YBS is building new capability within IT Technical Delivery with the introduction of dedicated DevOps Engineer roles to implement improvements in release frequency and service quality through automation engineering.

The first in the Digital Services team will work for the Reliability Engineer to assist in shaping the creation of Reliability engineering and DevOps capability.

The goal is to achieve an enabling capability to work with both software and platform engineers. This will be focused around friction free deployments that are repeatable, robust and secure.

Job Responsibilities:

• You will be a hands-on engineer tasked with solving challenges to continually improve the 4-key DevOps measures: lead-time, deployment-frequency, mean-time-to-recover and change-failure-rate within their squad(s). This is achieved through the following deliverables:
• Automating release management: automating (CI/CD), integrating and automating non-functional testing to accelerate deployment-frequency and lead-time
• Monitoring error budgets: operational oversight of SLOs and identifying actions to maintain. Independently identify service hotspots and trends, proposing strategies to improve.
• Operational Service: part of production support rota for the tribe, alongside development engineers. Contributing to blameless post-mortems and implementing root cause fixes.
• Automating toil: remove the manual tasks required to operate the product.
• DevSecOps champion: automate and integrate security testing into the deployment pipeline and vulnerability management

Job Requirements:

• Have a development or platform engineering background.
• Testing frameworks – Locust.io, Pytest
• Knowledge of networks and routing.
• Have knowledge and/or experience of digital transformation.
• Make continuous improvement
• Willingness to learn and challenge both yourself and members of the team
• Desire to constantly improve your working- and team process
• Container technology and orchestration skills – Docker, Kubernetes (Red Hat OpenShift in use)
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipelines – tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab, JFrog Artifactory
• Security (OWASP, Security code and container scanning) – tools such as Checkmarx, Jfrog Xray, Clair/Klar
• Scripting and automation capabilities (e.g. Python)
• Modern monitoring skills and best practices using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
