An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Credit Risk Manager to join YBS. As our next Senior Credit Risk Manager you’ll be at the forefront of defining and leading our credit risk strategy, at a time when strong credit risk management couldn’t be more important. You’ll join a like minded team in our Leeds based Conduct & Credit Risk team. We are looking for an exceptional candidate with the capability, drive and ambition to progress and be a credible successor for the Director of Conduct & Credit Risk within 12 months of joining YBS. As such this is a unique opportunity for a talented individual looking to progress their career to the next level.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the credit risk elements of trading performance and new proposition development, ensuring YBS has the credit risk management capability to take new opportunities, whilst always lending safely and responsibly.
  • Drive the evolution of YBS’s approach to credit risk management, with an increased focus on the measurement of multi-dimensional credit losses and more informed risk vs reward evaluation.
  • Be the team’s primary SME for all matters relating to Prudential Credit Risk Management (lifetime expected losses, impairment provisions, capital etc), and leverage that knowledge to improve YBS’s overall credit risk management capability.
  • Lead a team of high performing credit analysts, coaching and developing them to deliver effectively with a strong level of engagement.
  • Lead an agenda of Credit Risk innovation, such that YBS’s credit risk management strategy and capability supports the Society’s wider strategy, including a focus on digitalisation.

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience operating in a similar role at a senior level, displaying subject matter expertise in credit risk management, preferably with Retail Mortgage experience and a focus on one/both of credit risk acquisition and prudential credit risk management.
  • Have a proven track record at collaborating and influencing stakeholders to drive results in support of organisational purpose and strategy.
  • Be an engaging and dynamic people leader, with a drive and passion to bring the best out of your team.
  • An exceptional understanding of the prudential elements of credit risk (lifetime expected losses; impairment provisioning; capital etc) including it’s application into BAU credit risk management and acquisition.
