Job Description:

As a Multidiscipline Systems Engineer provides technical interpretations of design requirements as they apply to the maintenance and operation of nuclear plant systems. Provides engineering recommendations and alternatives for solving complex multidiscipline operational problems involving system and component performance. Develops solutions and engineering options to support safe, reliable and efficient system operation. Develops and performs tests to demonstrate that design requirements and specifications are met for modified systems. Performs work which involves complex systems and engineering practices and may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires a broad knowledge of multidiscipline system precedents and performance as well as an extensive knowledge of principles of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, instrumentation controls, and plant equipment and components.

  • Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives and critical issues, new concepts and policy matters. Consults with manager concerning unusual problems and developments.

Job Requirements:

  • The above summary reflects necessary expertise to perform the functions of the position. Specific skills/proficiencies include: implementation of EP exercise/drill program; development, implementation and leading scenarios; resolution of technical issues involving emergency exercises; maintenance of the Central Emergency Control Center
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Nuclear/Electrical Engineering or other related engineering degrees from an accredited curriculum, plus appropriate continuing education.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer desirable.
  • Membership in professional and technical societies is desirable.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3 and S-4 medical qualifications when applicable.
  • Must be able and willing to assume “on-call” rotational assignments which may include 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week availability.
  • Must be willing and medically able to work rotating shifts and maximum overtime permitted by TVAN procedures during peak periods.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to plant locations as required when performing assigned tasks and, as necessary, to be temporarily assigned to a field location.
