Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for aircraft engineering, configuration control, and obtaining modification and repair data.
- Ensure that approved data is used to develop EO’s and EAs used for the maintenance, repair, and modification of fleet aircraft and appliances.
- Interface with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, MRO facilities, outside engineering departments, regulatory agencies, and other outside agencies.
- Provide liaison engineering functions with manufacturers, outside overhaul agencies, and engineering agencies.
- Interface and with the structures/avionics engineer manager to develop corrective action plans based on in-service history defect data.
- Coordinate with other Kalitta Air engineering staff to provide 24/7 technical support to technical services, ground operations, flight operations, and other Kalitta Air personnel.
- Evaluate Federal Regulations, Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, ADs, SBs, SLs, and other notifications of in-service issues to ensure that the
- Kalitta Air Maintenance Inspection Programs are revised as necessary.
- Ensure that all necessary engineering documentation required to complete assigned projects is developed within the allocated schedule. Issue project status reports showing progress and compliance with the established timetable.
- Obtain regulatory approval when required modifications/repairs performed on Kalitta Air aircraft and components
- Ensure that each repair and alteration is analyzed to determine whether it is a major or minor per 14 CFR requirements.
- Support integrations of repairs/modifications for new and previously operated aircraft.
- Update manufacturer’s manuals and documents as applicable to ensure accuracy.
- Interface with FAA DER Engineers when required to support Kalitta Air repairs and modifications.
- Develop product improvement modifications as directed by Kalitta Air management.
- Participate in industry working groups, steering committees, meetings, and conferences as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the engineering manager.
Job Requirements:
- Required materials (parts & tooling)
- Required number of persons and skill set, task hours, and aircraft ground time to accomplish the task
- Create logical, coherent, and grammatically correct messages using Microsoft Outlook to communicate ideas, thoughts, and instructions that diverse groups can understand.
- Add, Subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Required actions and constraints
- Minimum of 5 years experience in airline engineering (engineering degree preferred) or equivalent heavy maintenance experience (A&P License/FCC License/ QC experience preferred).
- Working Knowledge of large aircraft systems and structures (Boeing 747-400 series and 767-300 series aircraft)
- Read, write, and understand the English language.
- Create and update routine reports and correspondence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of large aircraft manuals ( i.e., AMM, IPC, SRM, MPD, CPCP, SSID, NDT, RAG)
- Computer experience with Aviation Databases, Microsoft word, and excel
