Job Description:
The Public Transport Service Planning department drives the development of London’s public transport services. We plan the rail, bus and London Underground network, to meet current and future customer needs.
As part of Public Transport Service Planning, the Train Service Planning team is responsible for the identification, planning and implementation of train service changes on the London Underground network. We seek to maximise the benefits to customers from the capability of the railway and its supporting assets, within value for money and affordability constraints. Our work leads directly to enhanced customer services and increased revenue.
We are currently developing a number of train service changes that deliver the benefits of upgrade programmes, such as the Four Lines Modernisation Programme and the Northern Line Extension. We are also developing and implementing service changes on other lines that improve reliability or reduce customer journey times.
We have a vacancy for a Transport Planner – Service Planning. This is a challenging and influential role in which you will use your analytical and problem solving skills to develop and drive forward service changes for London Underground lines.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop strategic plans for selected service changes, and the plans to deliver the strategy.
Assist in building business cases and securing stakeholder support for service changes, across and outside the business.
Monitor and review the impact of Underground service changes on TfL’s customers and on TfL’s delivery of its strategic objectives including value for money, customer journey time, service reliability and network capacity and connectivity.
Undertake detailed analysis, including appropriate modelling as required, on feasibility, costing, passenger benefit evaluation and performance impact of service change proposals.
Identify and develop specific and achievable proposals for London Underground service changes by applying knowledge of passenger demand, service operation and Mayoral policy, including the Mayor’s Transport Strategy.
For approved service changes assist in managing the relevant service change process.
Contribute to the development of Public Transport Service Planning team capability.
