JetBlue is looking for an Analyst of Operations Strategy in NYC. The Operations Strategy Analyst works with the Network Planning/Scheduling team and all of the various operating groups on schedule levers, crew planning levers, manpower planning, etc. with the overarching goal of optimizing the tradeoff between operability & profitability. The ideal candidate has a passion for aviation, a deep understanding of operational reliability and airline schedules, strong problem-solving abilities, and developed quantitative and inter-personal skills. Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform ad hoc operability-related projects in support of senior leadership
  • Build relationships with operational partners across the system
  • Support other teams including all operational divisions, Airline Planning and Finance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Analyze JetBlue operational and on-time performance
  • Assess potential constraints that hinder the performance and recommend ways for improvement
  • Work with various operating groups to determine requirements/buffers that would set them up for reliable performance and analyze (opportunity) cost/trade-offs of those
  • Actively review JetBlue’s schedules to ensure agreed criteria are provided and look for opportunities to improve performance
  • Produce and ensure accuracy of monthly reporting for various internal teams; create automated reports and dashboards with operational data
  • Support strategy for JetBlue operational reliability

Job Requirements:

  • Strong capabilities with database querying (e.g., SQL) and/or high-level programming language(s) (such as Python, R or Visual Basic)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, PowerBI)
  • Experience communicating with senior leadership
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a ten-year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Two (2) years of work experience in aviation, finance, management consulting, or a related field
  • One (1) year of work experience at an airline in Operations Planning, Network Planning, Revenue Management, or Finance
  • Have a positive, “can-do” attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability
  • Bachelors’ degree in aviation, mathematics, operational research, computer science, engineering or a related field or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma and four (4) years of previous related work experience
  • Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills
