Job Description:

As a Senior Planner within the Advanced Product Planning team, you are going to be part of a close-knit agile group in meeting business objectives with analysis & stories rooted in customer needs, market data, forecasts and research. You will contribute to the strategy for the next generation of vehicles and powertrains for Nissan and Infiniti brands sold in North America. This strategy is used to develop the detailed future global product plan and ensure North American sales volume, market share, and profit goals are achieved. This position plays a critical role as liaison between the global NML planning office and region MC-NA, and involves collaborating with groups including R&D, Design, and other groups within Product Planning. The ideal Planner will continually evolve by leveraging their skills, experience, and learnings from both their team and customer, growing to be a vital member of the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • As necessary, perform other related duties of which the above are representative
  • Define market opportunities for new products (not included in the current lineup)
  • Define early product direction (i.e. platform, powertrain)
  • Understand and adjust product portfolio strategy to optimize global investment
  • Perform continuous study and data analysis to extract customer insights and deeply understand trends in the marketplace and consumer expectations. Leverage available social, economic, and demographic forecasts.
  • Weekly communication and negotiation with local and global counterparts as needed to drive priorities forward and close open issues; project management of regional upstream activities to support global decision making process.
  • Define each vehicle’s role in lineup and how it supports the Nissan and Infiniti brands
  • Assist in driving of primary research to extract focused customer insights to impact future product
  • Assist in creation of robust proposals using storytelling with clear, data driven, and compelling logic to drive decision-making involving product portfolio direction and to acquire approvals with Global Advanced Planning, Regional Product Managers, and MC-NA Executives
  • Ensure that MC-NA’s voice is included in the global product portfolio development

Job Requirements:

  • Strong preference for Advanced Planning, Product Planning &/or Research experience
  • Critical thinking skills and problem solving aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, negotiating, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated Leadership aptitude to manage team operations/projects autonomously
  • Demonstrated ability to develop compelling stories and to effectively deliver presentations
  • Analytical mind with strong business acumen, strategic and critical thinking skills
  • Strong automotive and business acumen
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, work toward objectives
  • Ability to think out of the box; high levels of creativity and story telling
  • Must be proficient at data driven analysis and insight identification
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with excellent oral/written/presentation communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong data analysis with insight identification and ability to translate to vehicle implications
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to manage complex subject matter & multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong understanding of total Product Planning lifecycle
