Job Description:

The successful candidate will have extensive theoretical and hands-on experiences in all facets of laser generator, laser welding and brazing and cutting system, laser weld and braze and cutting quality improvement, fixture and tooling design, as well as experience managing equipment projects (new installations) and process optimization, upgrades & modifications. Experience with steel and aluminum are desired. This position is available both in Fremont, California, and Austin, Texas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement weld control plans and requirements
  • Lead and assist production in all quality and process related weld topics and issues.
  • Procedures & PMs, develop & maintain proper documentation of: all necessary procedures; periodic maintenance tasks, Process control, etc
  • Spare Parts: select and define required and appropriate spare parts & consumables.
  • Responsible for continues process optimization in current production environment
  • Understand weld schedule development.
  • Develop maintenance weld training program and perform the training
  • Project management: both internal maintenance projects, and major contractor projects.
  • Responsible for welding process improvement
  • Support production in a daily basis in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures.
  • Responsibility for laser welding and brazing and cutting systems implementation, commissioning and programming of such.
  • Responsible for weld implementation for future model launches and process improvement.

Job Requirements:

  • Have laser experience with Nd-YAG, Fiber, Ultrafast and Disk lasers
  • Deep understanding laser weldability of steel and aluminum
  • 5+ years in process monitoring and optimization
  • Experience in setting up and running weld monitoring systems
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in CAD (CATIA is a plus)
  • Basic robotic programming skills
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • BS in welding engineering is required. Advanced degrees, Masters or PhD, are highly preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience with laser equipment which includes but not limit to laser generator, laser head, and quality tracking system, fixture design and qualification.
